Quick Note
Well, here is just a quick note before I'm off to bed!
VBS has been going awesome. Tomorrow will be our last day. We had over 55 children today receive Christ into their lives, which is awesome (and more un-churched families!) Also, today, we had our WATER DAY! We had a man from our church, Walt, who works with the fire department, bring the fire truck, and spray all the kids with water at the end of VBS today. It was so much fun, and the kids just loved it. I also arranged for a plate of whip cream and cherries, etc, to be rubbed in Shaun's face (the kids had been planning it with me during the week). We also gave the kids water balloons to throw at Shaun so that was funny.
I had a 2 hour nap today, I was so exhausted! I guess the adrenaline is fading away, and reality is setting in - I'm wiped!
Tonight Shaun has a board meeting, so I am heading to bed early, to be well rested for our final day tomorrow. Then on Sunday, we have a VBS wrap up service, plus a BBQ & Carnival in the afternoon, with bouncing castles, dunk dank, fish pond, face painting, and lots more, so it should be fun!
I promise, more pictures will come. But my camera is at church right now, because we've been using it for VBS, so it'll have to wait until the weekend.
Happy Weekend!

What a Whirl Wind!
Well, the last 3 weeks have been a whirl wind! VBS started this past Monday, so we have been extremely busy with that, especially since we just moved here this summer! Lots to do!
But, it's been going very well. We are enjoying every minute of it, and we've had so much help and support from the church volunteers, so it's been amazing.
I will post pictures tomorrow from VBS - haven't made it that far! But below are a ton of wedding pictures from the wedding Shaun and I were in this past Saturday. We drove Friday morning to Millbrook (about a 6 hour drive in traffic, past Toronto), and then stayed over night for the wedding and returned late Saturday night. Julia and Terry had a beautiful day, and we are so happy for them.
Not much else is new with us!
Hope all is well with you!

Wedding Continued!
The wedding and reception was held at Millbrook Christian Assembly, just outside of Peterborough.
Pastor Jamie and his wife Norma (Senior Pastors at the church). Terry is the Associate Pastor. We stayed with the Nelders over night and had a lovely time!
Amy & I jumping for joy that the pictures are over, and we can take off our high heel shoes!

Busy VBS week!
Well, this is unlike me, with no postings for the last 4 days, but it has been a VERY busy week getting ready for VBS! Our VBS starts this coming Monday, but because Shaun and I are both standing in a wedding this weekend in Millbrook (about 5 hours drive away), this week was VERY busy trying to get everything organized and finalized for VBS.
It's been great though. We have some great friends here at the church who have been very helpful, and I think things will be fantastic on Monday!
I should have some good pictures during VBS week of course!
Hope all if well with you! Miss my family and friends in NS! Hard to believe we've been gone now, almost 2 months! Time is sure flying.
Keep checking the blog for updates, I promise, after the wedding & during VBS I'll be back up and running!

Soap Spill & Shaun & His Drums
Well, this is a funny story now..but wasn't at the time! We were out buying a ton of stuff for VBS, which included 10L container of liquid soap for a game. Shaun could smell something funny in the car, and kept asking me if I'd used my hand sanitizer, but I hadn't. Then, later he went to put something in the trunk, and found all the 10L dumped into our trunk! It went all through the mat in the trunk and left about 2 - 3 inches, as displayed here..underneath by the extra wheel! What a MESS! He had to spray out the mat forever! Then he took the car to the car wash, and used the vacuum/fabric washing machine, to suck out all this soap! Well, needless to say, our trunk is clean!
Well, last week, Shaun played guitar and I played piano at church, because a bunch of people were away. Today, I had to play again, but the guitar player was back - until they realized the drum player wasn't there. So Shaun jumped in! haha Jack of all trades. We wore our VBS t-shirts today...and he had brought a tie to be funny..but decided since he was on the stage, he would wear his t-shirt with the tie! He got a lot of comments on this :)Thursday, August 7, 2008
VBS Newspaper Ad
Well, there it is! Our ad made it to the very back, outside page of the newspaper! So that's great! More publicity! We are busy working away trying to get all the final details arranged. Next weekend, Shaun and I are both standing in a wedding of friends we met in Ukraine. We have to leave next Friday morning to drive to Millbrook, Ontario (which is about 5 + hours!) Then stay over night, have the wedding Saturday, and leave probably around 9 PM Saturday to drive home! We will be zonked come Sunday morning for church! Then decorating all day, and VBS the entire next week. I can't wait for August 23! RELAXATION!

Supper & Cards & Tom & Rosanne's
This is Rosanne, showing that we won the game, because we had the tray filled with marbles! Rosanne is the BOSS at the church office (administration!)
This is her husband Tom! He's trying to pretend that the boys are winning, but unfortunately for them, they are not!
Playing the game.
And we win, TWO times in a row! Go ladies!
The victory dance!Strange Piano Shopping Experience!
We went today to look at a piano we were considering buying in Windsor (through an ad on the internet). The guy we were meeting had a studio in this old, abandoned building, and when we walked in, this is what we saw! Very interesting!
Yes, and this was the greeting on the door leading to all the renovations of the building! But the funny part was, we didn't notice this on the door until AFTER we walked through, and wondered around yelling the guys name we were supposed to be meeting! We both laughed. Strange trip to Windsor! We had no idea where we were headed! But the guy was nice we met. Not sure if we are buying the piano, but that's another story.Tuesday, August 5, 2008
The Howson's & Funny Church Story
Nichole does NOT want her picture taken!
Yes Nichole, we see you under there!
And there!
Church Sunday Morning - my piano playing day & Shaun's guitar playing day! But it went well...except for the very end. I went back up to teach Sunday School during the sermon, and then Pastor Nathan (the Youth Pastor) wanted me to come back before communion to play the song so his wife could sing. The Senior Pastor is away, so P. Nathan had to do communion and everything himself. Anyways, we had a bit of a mix up. No one came and got me, until it was too late! So, I am running down the stairs, hearing P. Nathan (who should be handing out communion) playing the hymn for his wife! So I peak in the back platform door, and he's motioning for me to come. AHH! So, I walk onto the stage, sit down, start playing the lower keys, he moves up the octaves, until finally he's off the piano, and I'm on! We got so many comments afterwards..people were stunned how I ended up on the piano. First they look, and it's P. Nathan, then they bow their heads to pray, and poof, I'm there! Well, it was a good laugh anyways. I was sweating bullets, but it went ok!
